The first VAX/VMS systems were introduced in 1977, with the successor
AlphaServer systems running OpenVMS introduced in 1992. Over the years,
VAX customers utilized continued enhancements to OpenVMS. Today, many
customers are considering moving applications from their VAX/VMS systems
to HP Integrity server since they cannot obtain replacement components or
are paying increased service costs. The Making the transition from HP
OpenVMS VAX to HP OpenVMS on Integrity servers white paper, highlights the
benefits of OpenVMS on Integrity servers, identifies licensing and
trade-in business practices, discusses key technical considerations, and
identifies resources to help plan and implement the transition.

HP and its authorized service partners continues to support VAX customers worldwide with a range of preventive, performance optimization, and remedial
services. HP policy is to provide support of a VAX system platform for at least five years from the date of last new product sale. As a business practice HP provides support as long as there is a
justifiable business requirement and sustainable capability. HP is positioning its support structure to continue to offer OpenVMS VAX support at least through the year 2010. Of course, we reserve the
right to reposition these services as the business demands change, but ample notice will be issued to our customers before any changes to these support offerings are made.
