HP is committed to being a good neighbor and a responsible community partner. In New England, we invest in programs that support a variety of services in communities where our company and our employees have a significant presence.

Technology for teaching

Higher Education

  • Middlesex Community College Bedford, MA
    $53,000 in equipment and cash to support the "Strengthening Student Math/Science Computer Literacy" program, which links computer use with scientific research and critical and quantitative analyses.
  • Springfield Community College Springfield, MA
    $62,000 in equipment and cash to support the "21st Century Mobile Classroom Project," which will provide one dedicated mobile classroom to teach "Introduction to Telecommunications."
  • Univ. of Vermont & State Agric. College Burlington, VT
    $62,000 in equipment and cash to provide pen-based, mobile computing technology in teaching environments where engineering students collaborate most frequently, specifically in laboratories.
K-12 Schools
  • Campton Elementary School Campton, NH
    $35,000 in equipment, cash and professional development to develop an elementary/middle school inter-disciplinary curriculum unit to enhance technology capabilities for a seamless curriculum transition between grade five/elementary to grade six/middle school.
  • Colchester Middle School Colchester VT
    $35,000 in equipment, cash and professional development to develop an interdisciplinary unit covering Exploration: Westward Expansion, The Future, Large Number Theory, Calculations, Probability, Graphing, and Space
  • Lawrence High School Lawrence, MA
    $35,000 in equipment, cash and professional development to support a grades 9-12 interdisciplinary math and science program.
  • Littleton Middle School Littleton, MA
    $48,800 equipment grant to support a new mobile laptop lab for math classes at the Middle School Annex to improve student achievement and differentiate instructional experiences.
  • Nashoba Regional High School Bolton, MA
    $35,600 equipment grant to implement technology in the classroom to increase productivity, efficiency and effectiveness in the areas of math and science.
  • Nashua School District Nashua, NH
    $14,500 equipment grant to support technology needs to two newly created high school literacy centers for special education students with reading disabilities.
  • Rowayton School Norwalk, CT
    $35,000 in equipment, cash and professional development to support grade three and four environmental studies programming.
  • Worcester Arts Magnet School Worcester, MA
    $35,000 in equipment, cash and professional development to develop and implement a mathematics-technology instructional curriculum component for grades four through six.

City Year
A non-profit organization that brings together young adults, ages 17-24, from diverse backgrounds to serve the community for one year. HP supports a team of corps members in Boston, MA.

Technology for communities

  • Accion USA Boston, MA
    $230,000 equipment grant to support this microfinance organization's mobile lending initiative and the development and implementation of its TechStart Loan Program.
  • Community Teamwork Lowell, MA
    $45,000 grant to support a student computer lab that serves unemployed youth and high school dropouts learn job seeking skills, computer training and access to educational opportunities in eight local communities.
  • East Boston Social Centers East Boston, MA
    $42,000 grant to support the Technology from Tots to Teens program. The grant will be used to provide technology access for 150 children between the ages of 2 and 14 who are enrolled in the Social Centers' early learning and after-school programs. Additionally, the grant will provide the administrative infrastructure for enrollment and the dissemination of program service information.
  • Easter Seals of Connecticut Norwalk, CT
    $36,000 grant to establish an academic and job training center that can be used both by Easter Seals and the community.
  • Lawrence Boys & Girls Club Lawrence, MA
    $68,600 equipment grant to double the capacity of computer access to enable a minimum of 150 youngsters a day to use computers for homework, research and career exploration.
  • Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts Roxbury, MA
    $37,000 grant to assist the organization in equipping a new server room and upgrading the corresponding networking systems to provide better education, employment skills training, job placement, and advocacy programming for Eastern Massachusetts communities of color.
  • YMCA of Greater Boston Training Boston, MA
    $45,000 grant to support the YMCA Training, Inc. program, which provides opportunities for the economically and socially disadvantaged to make a positive change in their lives and remove themselves and their families from poverty through high quality computer and workplace skills training.

 

Employee community drives

Spring and Fall Clothing Drives
Twice a year, HP supports the needs of others in New England through donations of used clothing. HP employees from Massachusetts and New Hampshire donated more than two tons of clothing and accessories in the Goodwill Clothing Collaborative drive held May 24 and 25. Goodwill Industries is one of the world's largest non-profit providers of employment training services for people with disabilities and other disadvantage-related conditions such as welfare dependency, illiteracy, criminal history and homelessness.

Summer Food Drive
HP supports the nutritional needs of children during the summer months. HP employees from Massachusetts and New Hampshire donated over one ton of food for area children during the "Hunger Doesn't Take a Vacation" food drive June 21-24. The agencies that will benefit from the donations are Loaves & Fishes of Ayer, Marlboro Emergency Services, Merrimack Valley Food Bank in Massachusetts. Margarite's Place and the Nashua Soup Kitchen will get the food donations in New Hampshire.

Winter Holiday Gift Drive
HP supports the holiday wishes of needy children and their families.

Back to School Drive
In August, HP employees provide back to school supplies for area children.

Blood Drives
HP sponsors blood drives throughout the year through the American Red Cross.
